VEB chocolate factory

In 1846, sugar and baked goods were produced on site for the first time, before the owner's son-in-law Robert Gustav Donalies continued to run the company in 1865 and expanded it through large investments in modern production technology. In 1885, he had a huge chocolate production factory built in the north of the city. The buildings and the associated factory owner's villa, which mainly serves as administration, are architecturally and technically in the style of the time, as you can see in the photos. "FA Oehler" produced in these premises until the 1950s, before the business was converted into public property as a result of the economic reform of the GDR and "VEB Zetti Süßwaren" was founded from this. "Zetti" survived both the socialist era and the political turning point in 1990 and was bought by a Leipzig company in the 1990s and has been producing since 1999 in a modern hall not far from the old location.  The old Zetti chocolate factory has no future since then and has been left to decay.
