Army Research Station Kummersdorf

8. West shooting range

The approx. 7500 m long and 200 m wide shooting range west was put into operation in 1917. It consisted of 10 observation bunkers, 2 measuring houses and 2 ammunition houses. In the 1930s, target groups and bunker targets (vaults and slab bunkers) were built here to test concrete-breaking ammunition and then to be shot at. After the war the bunkers were blown up and many things were dismantled. In the photos you can see three of the blasted observation bunkers and the reinforced concrete walls of the south target group. The photos are from March 2021.
