The former Reichsbahn repair shop (RAW) in H.

The huge former Reichsbahn repair shop (RAW) comprises a hall area of approx. 30,000 square meters and 10 halls that are continuously accessible. The many indoor cranes from the different eras from 1923 to 1992 are interesting. You can also see a larger lathe and an old forging hammer. The machines in the former hardening shop are also interesting. Above everything, there is the smell of used oil in the air. Railroad tracks have been laid in the entire complex of the factory buildings and only give an idea of the extent to which work has been carried out here over the years. After the closure in 1996, nature is increasingly returning to the halls. The rainwater penetrating into the halls from above immediately gives the plants the start signal and so moss has already spread on the ground and ferns, trees and bushes have already reached a considerable size. The old industrial halls and the "new life" with its vegetation are a great sight and are an expression of morbid beauty. "The Walking Dead" could be filmed here. End times mood!

The plant was founded around 1910 by what was then the Royal Prussian State Railway. During the GDR era, around 2,000 people were employed here, whose work tasks included refurbishing and repairing shunting locomotives and light railcars. It had the honorary title "Ernst Thälmann".
