Folding machine factory

The history of the stapling machine factory A. Gutberlet & Co. of the two cousins Arthur and Arno Gutberlet for the manufacture of folding machines for the printing industry began in 1901. In the first few years the company with around 20 employees focused exclusively on the manufacture of such folding machines . The company became famous, however, with the production of the "Auto-Triumph" folding machines, which were characterized by continuous sheet feeding based on the rotation principle. In 1911 a new three-story company building with a yellow clinker facade was erected. In the same year 130 people were employed. The First World War almost brought production to a standstill. Only after the war did a new upswing set in. After the referendum in 1946, the company was expropriated for the state of Saxony and managed in trust until 1947. From 1951 the Werl was continued under the name VEB folding and stitching machines "Triumph". But as early as 1952 the business premises were converted into a company vocational school. The building has been empty since the fall of the Wall.
