Antenna measuring station

In 1939, the Telefunken company set up the antenna measuring station. After the war, war refugees were quartered in the buildings on the site. In 1956 the Deutsche Post took over the area and after the political change until 2010 the Deutsche Bundespost. The best-known buildings at this measuring station are the two 54 meter high wooden towers erected in 1963, which were made without the use of metal parts. They were used to hold antennas to be measured. Due to the metal-free construction of these towers, an undisturbed measurement of the antenna diagrams is possible. A third wooden tower, erected in 1959 and named "Messturm I", was destroyed in a fire in 1979. The two remaining towers are the only freestanding engineering structures in Europe.

In 2009 the towers should be blown up. A local association prevented the destruction and has since taken care of the preservation of the buildings, having acquired the site in 2011. There is now a horse ranch in the old buildings on the edge of the site.
